Hello!
Hi, I’m Ms. Butler—an art teacher dedicated to creating an inclusive, imaginative, and joyful studio space for K–12 students. I believe every student has a unique voice, and my goal is to nurture that voice through creativity across all mediums. I care deeply about who my students are and how I can apply their life experiences to my curriculum. In my classroom, students are seen, heard, and inspired. Together, we build a studio we’re excited to enter—a space where connection grows through the process of making art.
Outside the classroom, I spend weekends exploring San Diego with my mom (also an artist!), my husband, our 6-year-old, and our energetic terrier, Martha. I’m passionate about both the big and small things that make life rich:
• Handel’s Mint Oreo on a sugar cone
• Used books
• The Dalí Museum in Figueres, Spain
• The Exploratorium in San Francisco
• All of New York City
• Ethiopian and Lebanese cuisine
• Tap dancing (someday)
• Sore muscles after gardening
• Favorite Studio Habit of Mind: Stretch & Explore
I believe art is about connection between people, ideas, and the world around us. I love getting to know each student and helping them discover their creative path. Let’s explore, take risks, get messy, and make something meaningful together.
